The first rainy Big Day Boston saw a bit of everything. Quick stats: 74 registered teams, 36 submitted checklists, 70 species observed, and 49 species on the winning checklist.

Absolutely crushing the previous record (37), Patrick was one of three birders who spotted the Louisiana Waterthrush in the Public Garden; but he said his favorite species is a Chestnut-sided Warbler which eluded him today.
Big Day Boston 2024 is in the books! What a great day. The weather cooperated, a variety of Warblers were in town, 30+ t-shirts were made, and everyone had a splendid time!
Big Day Boston 2023 is in the books! We had 113 participants from (at least) five states and collectively observed over 78 species - all within the confines of Downtown Boston.
And the winner is... Massachusetts-based birder Ingrid Messbauer!
Big Day Boston is the annual spring Boston birding competition. Participants will compete to spot the largest number of different species of birds in a single day without leaving the Downtown Boston neighborhoods.
